A Discussion on Safe and Economic Transportation of Bakken Crude Oil Through Minnesota
Please join the NACC-UMW on December 4th, 2014 for this timely discussion.
How do we safely transport Bakken shale oil through the State of Minnesota to refineries on the East and Gulf coasts? Presentations and discussions with speakers that bring global, national, regional and local expertise on viable options, risk management practices and the economic impacts of the transportation of crude oil to the State and business community.
The key note speaker for the NACC-UMW’s December 4, 2014 event at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute is Dr. Tom Bubenik, of DNV GL. DNV GL is a leading global providers of risk management, technical advisory and technical assurance services to the oil & gas industry and a leading expert on the energy value chain. Dr. Bubenik recently briefed a U.S. Congress Transportation Committee on these topics.
1) How do we define and implement best practices in shale operations and use risk management principles to assess pipeline risk and integrity management to prevent future spills while at the same time balancing the industry’s and State’s interests? How do we mitigate the risks of rail car transportation?
2) What are economic impacts to the State of Minnesota, its businesses and constituents?
3) How can Minnesota businesses benefit from the potential billions in infrastructure investment and as suppliers to the continuing Bakken shale oil boom?
